Hello, dear readers current and potential!
My name is Scott Howard, and as some of you may know I am the newly appointed executive editor of the Freemen News-letter. I reach out to you today to announce some changes being made here at the Freemen.
First things first, I want to thank Justin for granting me this opportunity, and to tell you all that I am thrilled to begin working towards providing you with the highest quality product the Freemen can be.
To that end, we have restructured the newsletter to provide you with regular quality content. We will now run five weekly newsletters Monday-Friday with special issues on Saturday and Sundays as they come along.
Mondays will be Vine and Fig Tree, our economics newsletter. Our regular contributors here include Jacob Nestle and Vance Ginn. Vine and Fig Tree will alternate with The Deep Roots, our history newsletter headlined by Joey Carrion and AD Tippet.
Tuesdays will be a rotation of Men With Chests (formerly known as the Steel Age Gentleman), written by myself, and our new addition The Freewoman. The Freewoman focuses on women and family matters, and will be written by Kimberly Ross.
Wednesdays we will send out Rank Pundit, our newsletter on the current events of the week. This column will be written by longtime Freemen contributor Ben Connelly.
Thursdays we have for you City on a Hill, our foreign policy column, written by Jake Kroesen and Jonathan Meilander.
Fridays are firmly in the hands of our editor-in-chief Justin Stapley, with a rotation of our political theory newsletter Self-Evident and our legal analysis column Artificial Reason. Jonathan Meilander will also contribute to Artificial Reason on a regular basis.
We have also moved towards offering paid subscriptions. Perhaps you are asking yourself, “who are you people? Why should I pay to read material from people I don’t know?” I am glad you asked. Unlike many personality-driven publications, we believe the message matters more than the messenger. You don’t have to know who we are to believe in what we write. And, if you like what we write, you’ll learn who we are soon enough.
If that sounds like a sophisticated way of saying that we’re nobodies–you’re probably right. With that in mind, I offer you another reason to subscribe; I need new shoes. More seriously (and more importantly), our corral of writers loves food, so if you would be so kind as to fund their edible séance it would be appreciated.
Not sold by my witty banter on the idea? Don’t fret–our material will still be available to free subscribers, a week after the newsletters are initially emailed. Feel free to check the Substack at any time to access our pieces. Our first mission is always to enlighten our readership.
We here at the Freemen News-letter are dedicated to bringing you the best we have to offer on a variety of subjects. We believe in the US Constitution, and in honing in on the “why” of so many of today’s questions while others are focused on the “what”. We believe in a principled, strident conservatism, one not afraid to call balls and strikes where it sees them. And we believe in the enduring greatness of this great nation. The United States will not fall tomorrow, and so we write with the optimism of people who understand this fact. If that sounds appealing to you, consider subscribing today. I welcome you to join us on this mission.
