It serves no purpose and never has. You are spot on to call out the inconsistency. I would add that many of the anti-Semitic instances are collective ejaculations of rage from angry mobs vs individual threats. How that isn’t a larger threat is beyond me. One guy drawing a swastika is unpleasant, an angry mob chanting at specific religions is far more dangerous.
However, in principle, I’m against these speech codes and hate speech laws. I like to know where the morons are and free speech encourages them to reveal themselves. Unfortunately, these frauds sitting in presidents’ chairs are hypocrites and thus one can only conclude that they themselves are anti-Semites.
We can’t have that on college campuses in America.
